Self-portrait with bandaged ear: Van Goh painted himself after cutting off his ear. This self-image showed his life troubled times where he suffered many episodes mentally.
Sunflowers: Although Vincent Van Gogh only sold one painting in his lifetime the way he painted was fresh and new to the art world. His use of yellow sunflowers brought light and positivity during dark days.
The Church Auvers Sur-oise: The church at Auvers are scenes from the northern landscape of Van Gogh childhood and youth. The foreground is brightly tit by the sun, but the church sits in its own shadow, Van Gogh explains that the grey-violets, of the building stands out against the deep blue of the sky.
Noon Rest: Van Gogh completed Noon Rest after several episodes of epilepsy. The clear pure hues of blue and yellow in the piece as well as the thick application of paint reveal no diminishment of Van Gogh’s power with the agricultural foil.
The Red Vineyard: The red vineyard was the only painting sold by Van Gogh. It was painted entirely from memory after an evening stroll past a vineyard. The dominant color of red $ yellow showed that contrasting colors produced beautiful results.
Starry Night: Starry night was painted in the asylum that Van Gogh lived in the sky and stars were painted from his memory of the skies. This painted is particularly famous because Van Gogh painted his emotions onto this arts. The specific swirls and texturing showed how his mind worked in an abstract way.
