Size: may reach 15 cm
Identification: Golden eyes and a large tympanum (eardrum) located just behind the eye. Bullfrogs often have black polka dots on the top of the head and body, blotchy striping on the legs, and a whitish underside with gray mottling.
Habitat: prefers still, shallow waters, like those found at the edges of lakes and ponds or sluggish portions of streams and rivers.
Eating behaviour: They like to eat crayfish, water beetles, snails and dragonfly larvae. The also eat fish, small turtles, young water birds, and even other frogs!

Poison dart frogs 箭毒蛙Katak beracun

Size: about 20 to 40 mm in length.
Identification: one of the planet’s most brightly colored animals. Depending on the species, they can be yellow, copper, gold, red, blue, green, black or a combination of those colors.
Habitat: live in wet, tropical forests in Central and South America.
Eating behaviour: eat many kinds of small insects, including fruit flies, ants, termites, young crickets, and tiny beetles.

Asian Toad 亚洲蟾蜍 Kodok Asia

Size: Adult: 11 cm Tadpole: 2.7 cm
Identification: it has a stout body and dry skin, unlike frogs which have moist skin. Several bony ridges run along the top of its head, while the raised glands behind its eyes (lightly coloured ovals) are very obvious. Two black stripes run down the top of its head as well. Their tadpoles are tiny and blackish, about the size of a 10-cent coin.
Habitat: can be found in a widespread range of habitats such as in our urban areas, under ground cover (e.g. rocks, leaf litter and logs), in human dominated agricultural land, in water bodies like upper beaches, riverbanks, ponds and lakes, and in disturbed lowland forests and edges of these forest.
Eating behaviour: mostly insectivorous that feed on wasps, bees and ants but are also known to be opportunist that can also feed on a variety of arthropods and mollusks.

Size: Female: 30 mm. Male: 9 mm.
Identification: The female has completely black palps and legs, without any red or yellow joints. On the underside (not shown in photo), there is a strong conical tubercle near the mouth. The sternum is decorated with seven yellow spots on the edge. Spins a web with a yellowish tinge.
Habitat: Gardens and waste-lands, edges of mangrove swamps. Less common in primary forests.
Eating behaviour: feed on flying insects, such as flies and mosquitoes, and therefore provide free insect regulation services to us.

Oval St Andrew’s Cross Spider 長圓金蛛
Scientific Name: argiope aemula

Size: Males 3 mm – 4 mm; females 10 mm – 16 mm
Identification: Females have a silvery carapace and a silver, yellow, red and black banded upper abdomen with two longitudinal yellow stripes below. The spider sits with the legs in pairs. The brown and cream coloured males are smaller than females.
Habitat: build medium-sized orb webs, occupied day and night, on low shrubby vegetation.
Eating behaviour: They spin big webs that easily snare insects such as flies, mosquitoes, moths, bees and bugs.

Eating behaviour: Its diet remains a mystery but many researchers speculate that it may feed mainly on fungi, lichens and detritus.
